Guildford College Art student, Jenna Pickering, 18, has been selected to exhibit her work at Origins Creatives, taking place at the Mall Galleries in July.听听
Jenna鈥檚 submission, titled Connecting to one another – Fantasy Communication Cards, explores human connection and social constructs by creating a communicative tool to help visually and quickly display how people are feeling at any given time.听 听
The tool aims for the user to wear accessible and interchangeable images conveying emotion, mood and feelings as brightly coloured laminated cards on a lanyard so that they are immediately visible to others in a social setting.听
Jenna’s piece caught the attention of UAL Awarding Body鈥檚 curator, Charlie Levine, from amongst over 500 submissions.听听
Jenna鈥檚 Art tutor, Kat Baddeley said: 鈥淛enna has demonstrated exceptional design and illustration skills throughout her time on our Foundation Diploma.
“She has worked incredibly hard and produced these beautiful designs that are inspired by helping young people communicate their emotions through visual communication tools.
“I am enormously proud that Jenna鈥檚 work has been chosen by Origins Creatives and think that this incredibly important piece deserves to be seen by a much wider audience.鈥� 听
Origins Creatives is a free exhibition that is organised by UAL Awarding Body. This event offers a unique opportunity for art enthusiasts, critics, and industry professionals in the creative sector to discover original talent and to celebrate the dedication and hard work of young creatives from across the UK and internationally.听听
Origins Creatives provides a platform for emerging talent to be seen and celebrated, connecting them with potential collaborators, industry leaders, and a wider audience.听听
The exhibition highlights the exceptional work of students from centres across the UK, showcasing their talent across the UAL subject areas of Art and Design, Fashion Business and Retail, Creative Media, Music Performance and Production, Performing Arts, Entry Level 3 in Art and Design and Performing Arts, Professional Diplomas, and the Extended Project Qualification.听听
This year, Origins Creatives will be an in-person exhibition at the Mall Galleries in central London. The exhibition will launch with an invite-only opening night on 16 July at 6pm. It will be open to the public from 17 鈥� 20 July, alongside an online showcase.听听
The exhibition will showcase selected work created by students from entry level and levels 1, 2, 3 and 4 across all subject areas. You can expect to see a diverse range of painting, photography, drawing, sculpture, fashion and more.听听
