Apprentices from Activate Business School and Educator Academy’s leadership and teacher training programmes came together at Reading College and University Centre on Thursday 27 June to celebrate finishing their studies at a special graduation event.
Representatives from delivery partner Grant Thornton on the , also attended the event that took place in the college’s restaurant, The Kitchen.

For many of the apprentices, this was the first time they had met one another face to face as they had been studying their qualifications online together.
Peter Reynolds, Group Director of Marketing, Communications, Student Admissions and Sales at Activate Learning, opened the ceremony with a speech to congratulate the students on their ability to study for an apprenticeship while balancing other commitments, including work, teaching and family life.
He also commended their resilience and determination, as he acknowledged that many will have had moments where they struggled but pushed through.
For many of the apprentices, an apprenticeship goes further than a qualification as it teaches them new skills, allows them to grow and set an example to their peers, colleagues, family and friends.
Some apprentices will have also studied for their English and maths GCSEs or Functional Skills qualifications alongside their apprenticeship
Cheri Ashby, Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Activate Learning, presented the certificates to each of the apprentices, congratulating them for their hard work, many of whom had achieved distinction.
Afterwards Cheri closed the ceremony with a speech inspiring each of them to continue their learning and join Activate Learning’s Alumni programme, Activate Alumni.
